Kegstar

Kegstar are a well-established company in the UK within its thriving brewing industry.

They provide a service where breweries can rent aluminium beer kegs for their product and, once empty can return to Kegstar for cleaning and reuse, this procedure is where steam is utilised using there keg washing machines.

CFB had previously worked with Kegstar back in 2017 when they were just starting out.

We supplied and installed our largest 4VT, the 130HP providing 2000kg/hr, complete with all ancillaries skid mounted.

As Kegstar grew over the years, both the premises they were in, and the boiler system was proving inadequate for their demand.

An engineering consultant company contacted us on behalf of Kegstar requesting an upgrade for their production.

The project was finalised the end of September 2024 and work began shortly after.

The kit consisted of 2 x 130HP 4vt boilers and a skid mounted 4500 litre hot well tank with integrated blowdown vessel, softener, chemical dosing, sample coolers and steam header.

The skid unit we offer is a great option to minimise disruption on site and comes fully piped, wired and factory tested as a “Turnkey” package.

This new equipment was needed for Kegstars new site.

The two boilers and skid unit were constructed and laid out in our factory to the footprint provided.

All interconnecting pipe work and electrics from the boilers to the skid unit were undertaken and once complete a FAT test was carried out (factory acceptance test).

Once complete in March 2025 all the kit was broken down and shipped to site, where it was all reassembled in one day with the help of Finches of Bookham, specialist lift and shift company.

Commissioning was carried the following week to complete the job.

Once again, our prefabricated boiler system and skid unit proved to enable a smooth, non-disruptive solution for our customers steam requirements.
