Nuclear Power

Over 128 years of
Great British
Manufacturing

Steam plays a hugely important safety factor when it comes to nuclear power as it is used to transfer radioactive liquids via steam ejectors, as well as being used for heating and evaporation functions.

It is also used as a back up heat source.

What we did for Sellafield

Based in Cumbria, Sellafield nuclear power plant houses four 35,000 kg/hr horizontal steam boilers  used for nuclear fuel reprocessing, waste storage and the decommissioning of nuclear waste.

With the use of steam for fuel reprocessing, Sellafield is the world’s first nuclear power station to export electricity on a commercial scale to a public grid at Calder Hall.
